So January is definitely here, it's getting colder and there is more hours of darkness than there is light. It is easy to feel down in these winter months, so I have written 20 reasons why you should be happy. Just a bit of light hearted fun, but we often over look the small things in life.
1. Because you are alive! - An obvious one, but if you are feeling down or stressed sometimes you just need to take a minute to say 'things could be worse, but I am thankful to be alive right now'.
2. The sky - Now I don't know of this is just me, but the sky inspires me so much! Sunsets and sunrises are just so beautiful. Find a moment where you can watch the sunrise and appreciate the beauty of nature.
3. Choices - A choice is something we all have the option to make, so if something is really making you unhappy, change it. Simple.
4. Music - There are so many genres of music that are easily accessible, listen to upbeat feel good music to improve your mood, connect with a song.
5. Chocolate - Maybe one to avoid if you've recently started a health kick new years resolution, but seriously. Treat yourself. Chocolate produces good endorphins that improve your mood, go on have some!
6. Exercise - The opposite option of number 5, but balance is good! So have both and create double the good endorphins!
7. You are loved - Some loves you, whether its apparent or not you are loved by someone.
8. Clean water - We are privileged to have access to clean water. It is something you probably drink or use everyday that you take for granted, how much harder would life be without that luxury?
9. Internet - Internet is available everywhere! Even if you don't have it at home there are free wifi facilities in a lot of places. The internet is full of entertainment and knowledge, it is how you are reading this!
10. Friends - Friends will always make you feel good, make memories! And if you feel like you don't have any good friends to do that with then make it you purpose to find some, there are billions of other people in this world!
11. Firsts - First moments with new people, first experiences in new places.
12. Birthdays - Okay, so maybe getting older is not your favourite thing, but at least you are alive to age! Also birthdays are a day of you or the people you care about, plus cake. Eat cake
13. Cake - No description needed.
14. New things - Try new things, new foods, new places, new people, new routes, new journeys.
15. Autumn - When everything turns golden, leaves are crunchy on the floor, there's a breeze in the air. Festive seasons soon follow!
16. Learn - Learn something new, find something that fully interests you and you can't help but learn more. I love self educating.
17. Read - You can read so you should. Lose yourself in a book and all your worries will disappear,
18. Pictures - Take pictures, hundreds of them. It is a fun activity, a great way to become creative and they will be memories you can look back at in years to come.
19. Cook - Be creative in the kitchen, make some delicious treats.
20. Be alone - Everyone needs some alone time, to unwind and to just be with your own company. It's a healthy thing to do. Have a pamper session, watch movies or indulge in a good book. Be good to yourself, your happiness matters.
